LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
Tattoo removal lasers use a high-intensity beam of light to heat and break up the pigment of a tattoo.
The particles of ink are then absorbed and eliminated by your body’s own immune system.
WILL IT COMPLETELY REMOVE MY TATTOO?
The easy answer is no. However, it will remove enough to cover up a tattoo in nearly all cases. Here at Loud Ink we recommend laser removal to lighten tattoos to achieve a nice cover up. It is possible to completely remove most tattoos but not all as it depends on a number of factors. To put it simply, the better quality tattoo you have on you then the easier it is to remove it. For complete removal enquiries we would recommend a visit to the studio to see what is achievable.
Commonly, black and blue pigments are most easily removed with laser treatment because they absorb the most light. Other colours may may not be completely removed as well as inks that have been applied deeper into the skin.
IS IT PAINFUL?
To put it straight, yes it hurts! However, it is very, very quick. A 5×5 cm tattoo in black can be lasered in under a minute to give you an estimate of how long it takes.
HOW MANY SESSION ARE REQUIRED TO REMOVE A TATTOO?
Unfortunately, this is not a question where we can say for sure as there are many factors in tattoo removal. A lot of the questions will be about how the tattoo was done originally. The better the tattoo is made, the easier it is to remove as all of the ink will be in the right depth and the quality of materials used will be correct.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Complete removal will be estimated from tattoo to tattoo as no 2 are the same. We offer bulk session purchases.
A single session is €80
3 Sessions for €200
5 sessions for €300.
POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS
Your tattoo removal site is at risk for infection and there is a slight chance that you will have a permanent scar.
It’s unlikely that your tattoo will be completely removed. In many cases, certain colours may be more effectively removed than others. Blue and black tattoos, for example, respond well to laser treatment.
You may end up with hypopigmentation, which means the skin that is treated is paler than the skin surrounding it. You could also have hyperpigmentation, which leaves the affected skin darker than the rest of your skin.
Cosmetic tattoos like lip liner, eyeliner and eyebrows may actually get darker after treatment. They do tend to fade over time.
AFTERCARE
Immediate aftercare is to put something cool on your treated area, this should be something like ice or even a bag of frozen peas. Make sure to wrap it to avoid frostbite or damage to the skin from the cold. This should be done for the entire area for 15 minutes and then repeated after 1 hour. It should also be repeated at night before you go to bed. This is only required on the actual day of your treatment and not again after.
It is important to keep the area as dry as possible for 3-5 days also. So, no bath, steam rooms or swimming pools. Even showering should only cover the area at a minimum to was as the skin will be quite delicate.
For the first 3-5 days also wear loose and non restrictive clothing over the area to avoid any abrasion to the softened skin.
If you do get blisters, avoid opening them to the best of your ability. If they do open then use an anti bacterial cream such as as Savlon or Germaline to care for these blisters. Remember, this is not a tattoo you are caring for at this stage, it is a blister, so keep it clean to avoid any infection.
HEALING TIME
Everyone is different but it is safe to say the majority of people require 4 weeks between sessions of laser. It usually takes 3 weeks to heal and we give the body a week to rest in between sessions also.
If you do get blisters in your lasered area, you must wait until they are fully healed before doing another session on this area.
